Fun is What Makes You Feel, "I can't believe I get paid to do this"
While that may be a slight exaggeration, especially as you're red-eyeing back from Phoenix after a long day of client interviews, it is consistent with the idea that all of us are in it for the something extra we get from doing the job. Fun is, first and foremost, the enormous satisfaction of delivering against your client's very high requirements. It is also the spirit of humor and celebration that grows in a performance culture that isn't a hotbed of competition. Fun is the excitement borne from accomplishing things of which you are proud.
We don't take ourselves too seriously at Case Strategy. We treat one another with humor that is kindhearted rather than sarcastic. We open ourselves to the risk of embarrassment that comes with doing things our own way in our own time.
Our offices are in our own (and owned) free-standing colonial located in Portsmouth, NH. Our building is a three-story Federal-style house built in 1805. It was one of a group of large Federal houses surrounding Market Square and extending out Middle Street, representing the early development of that major thoroughfare. Because we own and are the sole occupants of our building we can paint the walls in bold colors, put music in every room, and set aside space for relaxation. Our space is filled with sunlight and funky furniture. While it reflects the professionalism we insist on providing for our clients, it is still a place which fosters fun.
Finally, it is enjoyable to work with a group of people who you like, value, trust, and enjoy. It spills over into social time spent together, and more personal relationships woven into the everyday fabric of work.
